New Greenfield Airport DI Khan: updated 2 February 2025

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is reconstructing the second runway at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport (JIAP), as it has lived its useful life. The project is well underway and aims to enhance operational efficiency and safety at Pakistan's busiest airport.

Simultaneously, extensive expansion and upgradation projects are in progress at Sukkur, Skardu, and Dera Ghazi Khan Airports to enable operations of larger aircraft and better passenger experience. Furthermore, a new greenfield airport is in the planning phase for Dera Ismail Khan, marking a significant step in advancing Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure.

These announcements were made during the second e-Kacheri presided over by Acting Director General PAA Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed. He was accompanied by Deputy Director General Airports Sadiq ur Rehman and Directors from key directorates. The session addressed passenger concerns and operational challenges, reaffirming PAA's commitment to enhancing airport services and infrastructure.

Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has decided to build a new Greenfield International Airport at Dera Ismail Khan. The location of the Airport will probably be near Yarik (Giloti) area of DI Khan, close to starting point of Yarik-Hakla Motorway M-14.

Pakistan Airports Authority has posted Mr. *** (name hidden) as Project Director for New Greenfield Airport at DI Khan.

Pakistan Airports Authority has requested the Deputy Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan to direct the concerned Land Acquisition Collector to notify proposed site of New DI Khan Airport under Section-4 of Land Acquisition Act-1894 for purpose of Airport and Allied infrastructure.
